英語を話せることが数え切れない可能性の扉を開く
こんにちは、メラニーです。ドイツ出身、生粋の旅好き、アマチュアベイカー、そして語学愛好家です。
私はチェコとの国境に近い小さな鉱山の町で育ちました。チェコ語は話せませんが、学校では英語、ラテン語、フランス語の授業を受けて育ちました。外国語はいつも私の好きな科目だったので、大学では自然と通訳・翻訳課程を選びました。2013年に大学を卒業した後、私はバックパッカーとして冒険に出て、6年もの間、国々を旅しました。スコットランド、イタリア、オーストラリア、ニュージーランドなど、さまざまな国で生活し、仕事をしました。
外国語、特に英語を話せるということは、私にとって数え切れないほどの扉を開き、親密な友情の道を切り開いてくれました。世界各地の出身の、たくさんの素敵な人々に出会いました。彼らの母国について訊いたり、レシピを交換したり、彼らの母国語のフレーズを覚えたりするのが大好きなのです。
私は独学でスペイン語、そして後にイタリア語を学びましたが、最終的にとりこになった言語は日本語でした。そこで、2018年に日本のワーキングホリデービザを申請することにしたのです。その1年間、興味深い地域を探索し、以前経験のある仕事に従事する機会を得ました。そのひとつが、長野市近郊のぶどう農家の手伝いでした。このたび、ようやく願いかなって長野県に戻ることになり、私の語学への情熱を伝えることができることに感激しています。
旅行や他の文化や言語を学ぶことに加え、料理やお菓子作り（食べ）、ハイキング、ゲームや歌を楽しむことが趣味です。（できることなら、カラオケボックスに引っ越したいです！）
Hi, I’m Melanie – a passionate traveller, hobby baker and language enthusiast from Germany.
I grew up in a small mining town close to the Czech border. I never learned to speak Czech. I did, however, take English, Latin and French classes at school. Languages were always my favourite subjects, so it was a logical consequence that I studied translating at university. After graduating in 2013, I started a backpacking adventure, which would take me through many countries over the course of six years. I lived and worked in Scotland, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand, to name but a few.
Knowing foreign languages, especially English, has opened countless doors for me and paved the way for close friendships. I have met so many lovely people from all over the world. I love hearing about their home country, exchanging recipes or learning a few phrases in their native language. I attempted to teach myself Spanish and later Italian. But the language I ultimately fell in love with was Japanese. That’s why I decided to apply for a Japanese work & holiday visa in 2018. During that year, I had the opportunity to explore some interesting regions and work in jobs I had done before. One of them was helping out on a grape farm near Nagano City. I am thrilled to finally be back in Nagano prefecture and share my passion for languages.
In addition to travelling and learning about other cultures and languages, I enjoy cooking and baking (and eating), hiking, playing games and singing. I would move into a karaoke box if I could.
